Apple boasts that all its data centers are now powered by green, renewable energy. French engineering giant Alstom has signed contracts with Danish power plant specialist Burmeister & Wain Scandinavian Contractor to supply steam turbines at two UK biomass projects. The first contract covers a 23MW geared reaction unit for a waste wood combined heat and power plant in Widnes, Merseyside, being developed by BWSC and UK logistics company Stobart Group.
